| Course Description: |
| The course is not only taken as the graduates’ major subject of the environmental science and biology but also as the elective subject of the graduates of relative sciences and specialities. The ecotoxicology focus on the interaction, mechanism and the ecological strategy among the poison, environment and biota organisms. The course is to give a fundamental introduction the fate processes and properties of storage, movement, transformation and degradation of the environmental contaminants. It also include the influence of the contaminant’s physicochemical properties to the sorption, bioavailability, degradation, transport and biological effect; the basic theory of ecotoxicology focusing on quantification of toxicity on biomarker, individual, population, and ecosystem level and the main models deal with the cycle of pollutants in multimedium are included. The toxic effects of contaminants in different ecosystems are included in the course. When the course is finished the student is supposed to be able to know the methods for determination of concentration, speciation, sorption, degradation, and explain the properties and the fate of a given contaminant in the environment by the ecotoxicity fundamental principles. Student also should know the basic processes and approaches of ecological risk assessment. |
